Urban Cookhouse Now Open in Prosper

Urban Cookhouse is set to debut its first Texas outpost at the Gates of Prosper on Monday, August 11. The popular “Buy Local. Eat Urban,” concept was originally introduced in Alabama.

Owned and operated by Frisco resident and seasoned restaurateur James Zemlock, the eatery is a culmination of healthy eats, local growers and artisans. With 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, James honed is culinary and management skills with Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, The Capital Grille and Tommy Bahama.

The menu features over a dozen sandwiches and wraps, salads, soup, and fork and knife offerings including grilled pork tenderloin with red chimichuri, lime-marinated steak and rice and ‘The Down Home’, a comforting plate of smoked turkey, cheddar pasta and broccoli salad. Vegetarian options are available and a children’s menu features several options for just $8.

The Saturday and Sunday brunch menu features an over-the-top breakfast charcuterie board overflowing with sweet and savory bites; applewood-smoked bacon, chicken sausage, seasonal fruits, flaky pastries, deviled eggs, yogurt parfaits, nuts, fresh breads, butter and jam ($25, feeds 3-5). Libations include the usual boozy suspects – mimosas, Bloody Marys, Micheladas, white or red sangria, beer and wines by the glass in addition to a full coffee bar, fresh strawberry lemonade, milk shakes and more.

“We are so excited to bring Urban Cookhouse to Prosper,” says James. “We’ve been hands on in sourcing everything as local as possible in preparation to open. Expect the freshest eggs, greens, honey from our Prosper neighbors and baked goods from local storefronts. A signature coffee blend from 1418 Coffee is also in the works,” James adds.

A portion of the restaurant is dedicated to a petite market featuring homemade sauces and dressings, chicken salad, broccoli salad, the signature orange rolls, spiced pecan, honey and pickles and cheddar pasta to-go. Family-style meals are also available for pick up after 3pm with choice of protein, 2 sides, orange rolls and tea ($55, feeds 4).

Located at 1151 S. Preston Road at The Gates of Prosper, Urban Cookhouse is open daily from 10am-9pm. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm. For more information and menus, go to www.urbancookhouse.com.
