Customs Cocktail Lounge & Speakeasy, located above the newly opened ELLA Dine + Drinks in Preston Hollow Village, is hosting an exclusive guest bartender takeover with Mexico City’s Hanky Panky, ranked among the World’s 50 Best Bars in North America, on Thursday September 4 starting at 6 pm.
Hanky Panky is an award-winning hidden gem with an entrance concealed behind the kitchen of a modest Oaxacan-style fonda in Mexico City’s Juárez neighborhood. Since opening in 2016, the speakeasy has earned international acclaim for its deep knowledge of Golden Era mixology, including the legendary Hanky Panky cocktail (gin, sweet vermouth, Italian digestif) created by Ada Coleman during her tenure as head bartender at The Savoy in London.
Today, under bar manager Gina Barbachano, the team crafts innovative drinks inspired by their travels, as seen in their Twelve Wonders of Mixology menu — from Singapore’s Green City (gin infused with green tea, sake, coconut cream, orange bitters, terebinth essence) to Peru’s Otorongo (gin, leche de tigre cordial, homemade banana liqueur).
For one night only, Hanky Panky’s own Adrian (@adrianlucky) and Yoali (@drinkgineer_) will take over Customs’ bar, creating two cocktails each — two with Condesa Gin and two with Cazcanes Tequila.
Seated tickets are $25, which includes one cocktail and a two-hour reservation. Seated tickets are limited to 20 per seating at 6 pm, 8 pm, and 10 pm, and will be available via Resy for ELLA Dine + Drinks starting Friday, August 22 at 5 PM. Standing room will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis with no ticket necessary.
