Sweet Georgia Brown’s Homecooking where the food is soulful and plenty of it to go around.
Located in South Dallas at 2840 East Ledbetter this Dallas staple seriously doesn’t need a write up. If you don’t believe us try to grab a table Sunday afternoon after local church services. Served cafeteria-style, Sweet Georgia Brown’s tells us they are BBQ, but probably not in the sense of BBQ that comes to mind right away in Texas. This is all homespun and delicious in a different way. Like your Uncle and a Saturday afternoon way.

In addition to Brisket, Pork Ribs and Sausage, Sweet Georgia also offers soul food staples such as Smothered Turkey Wings (yes, please), Meatloaf, Pork Chops, Fried Chicken and Whole Smoked Chickens.
The sides are the star with so much to choose from and all house-made, including Greens, Mashed Potatoes, Yams, Black eyed Peas, Broccoli Cheese Casserole, Mac and Cheese (the way God intended it to be served), and much more and all served in a massive way that will have you napping at noon.

Plenty of desserts to fly around including a Butter Pound Cake, German Chocolate, Lemon Cake and Pecan Pie to name a few. The desserts are a definite happy ending; they leave room for discussion and little else.
If you want to save some for later, there’s no shortage of options for a second helping. Soul food classics like baked macaroni and cheese, slow-cooked collard greens, and fried chicken smothered in savory gravy have become staples on menus across the country. Each dish delivers the kind of rich, comforting flavors that make you savor every bite—and then look forward to enjoying it again later.
These dishes are accessible. With these staples widely available, it’s easier than ever to indulge in hearty, home-style meals that feel like a warm hug on a plate, no matter where you are.
