The Amon Carter Museum of American Art presents With the Help of Friends, on view February 2 through June 2, 2019. The exhibition showcases fifteen dynamic photographs from the museum’s collection ranging from the 1930s to the present day. These works were selected and purchased over the course of seven years by the Amon Carter with the assistance of its photography collection supporters. With the Help of Friends highlights the vibrancy of the museum’s collection in addition to the ongoing relationship with its members, and the key help that members provide in sustaining the collection as one of the world’s leading repositories of American photography. We have a few hangover relief tricks, plus a list of some really good local foods that will help ease the pain of the season.

PL8 Is An Interesting Blend Of Art And Food

A visit to the old Fat Rabbit location, now home to a very upgraded and very stylized adult restaurant PL8 that seems to wish to break the pub feel of Uptown that appears to be adulting more and more with each new concept that moves in. PL8 is a dizzying malange of menu items that may have you questioning the direction of the restaurant until you learn that the imported chef Long has worked across the globe and is adept at cuisines such as Malaysian, Indian, Mediterranean and much more. This reflects on the menu and once tasted you will get it.

The atmosphere is grown up and we were told that they are no longer open late nights, so this fits in with the very bright look of the white wood floors and emphasis on local art, which all is for sale. Think of Pl8 as a galleria with a cool menu.   Continue reading

PDNB Gallery Celebrates 20th Anniversary

PDNB Gallery is celebrating its 20th Anniversary with a show featuring highlights from the past 20 years. Most of the photographs that will be exhibited will be on loan from collectors.

The gallery’s first location was a small house on Routh Street in Uptown. This location provided space for many important exhibitions for eleven years. The second and current location on Dragon Street, in the Design District, gives ample room for larger shows, and larger photographs.   Continue reading

The Continental Gin Building Opens it’s Doors for Notable Artists This Weekend

The Continental Gin Building will be having an open house on April 17th from 6 to 10 p.m. and April 18th from 2 to 8 p.m. The tenants will open their studio doors and showcase the diverse talents that make them an outstanding community with immense positive impact on the City of Dallas.
