Deep Ellum Wine Walk Tonight

Tonight from 5-8pm, the Deep Ellum Community Association and the merchants of Deep Ellum are combining two of our favorite things, wine and shopping, with the Deep Ellum Wine Walk.

Purchase a collectible, signature Wine Walk glass for $5, raise it, and repeat as you enjoy wine samplings while exploring Dallas’ hippest neighborhood. Glasses and maps to all the participating venues are available at the glass and information station outside 2646 Main, across from Lula Bs.

DMA Announces “Savor the Arts Light Night Dinner Inspired by the Collection”

What a brilliant idea. The DMA is piggybacking on Savor Dallas Arts District Wine Stroll this Friday by holding a four-course dinner with dishes inspired by its collection. Proceeds go to help the museum’s acquisitions. Execuchef Craig James will whip this up.  Continue reading →

Red Bull Curates July 25 In Deep Ellum

In seven U.S. cities, Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project will pair 20 hand-picked artists with venue owners from some of the hottest local bars, lounges and restaurants. Artists will be given a 3-day challenge to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull Cooler into an inspired work of art, customized for permanent display at each venue. The art created in each city will be exhibited in a one-night only public showcase at a local gallery where attending guests and a panel of curatorial judges will vote on each piece, sending two artists, and possibly a third, to SCOPE Miami in December. In Dallas, the public showcase will take place on Thursday, July 25th at Life in Deep Ellum.         Continue reading →

The Davies Brothers Are 3 of 1

In families sometimes, artistic talents are pushed with in a group of siblings so that a bond can develop which will help the progression of the group grow.   Since I have started writing, I have come across a number of families which push their artistic talents together as group, so that each member can develop a name for themselves.  But one particular band of brothers whom stood out to me was the Davies Brothers.  Joshua, Isaac, and Jerrod Davies are a group of brothers, which are more commonly known as 3of1.  What makes them different compared to the other groups that I have come across is that they have developed a business aspect towards art which allow them to tackle any project which is thrown their way.  Continue reading →

Dallas Contemporary Gets A Fresh Coat With New Exhibition

Friday, April 12th, will mark the date where bright colors of fashion, graffiti, and fine art will merge into one space.  Dallas Contemporary Museum will be hosting their opening exhibition which features Walter Van Beirendonck, John Pomara, Soner, and Josephine Durkin; a true treat for those who love energetic hues of color.

Walter Van Beirendonck is a fashion icon who creates avant-garde men’s trends that stimulates the viewer’s imagination on what his inspiration of the collection could be; pushing boundaries with his nontraditional materials, typography, and textures.  This exhibition celebrates his creations of the couture collection which is inspired from pop music, comics, science fiction, and cultural trends.  As well as reminding individuals of why he is branded the nickname of “Cultural Ambassador of Flanders.”

Insider’s Guide To Fort Worth’s Main Street Arts Festival

Every year I look forward to, and I do not think I am going out on a limb here, the festival of all festivals in DFW.  The Main Street Arts Festival!  The Cliffs Notes for the Main Street Arts Festival are as follows: Starting April 18th at 10am and you can come and go as you please all day every day through April 21st.  Not only is the Festival itself free, including three live music stages, but parking on the weekend is generally free, and this year they have water stations to fill up, also free.   Continue reading →
