Bathtubs to Brewmaster: Firewheel Brewing Company

DSC00160by Hollie Dorethy

Brad Perkinson at the new FireWheel Brewing Company based in Rowlett, Texas, is taking the beer world on full force.  I caught up with him at the new Brix Bar and Grill in Plano.  After finishing the hand-made White Trash burger (which consists of a hand formed patty tossed in wing sauce, covered in bacon and jalapenos, then all topped with a fried egg) he was ready to chat.  Beer in hand, we headed outside to the spacious corner patio to tell me his story.   He is immediately the fun loving beer guy that everyone wants to hang out with all hours of the night.  I was especially impressed with his story of how he even stumbled into the beer industry itself.    Continue reading

These aren’t week old bivalves; Alexis ships in oysters daily along with all of his seafood selections. Instead he likes the idea of throwing a Sunday night industry party that celebrates with half priced fish tacos and a growing selection of really awesome oysters for a buck each.  Continue reading

A Visit To Four Corners Brewing Company

by Steven Doyle

The brew news is at a fever pitch this week. Today I was on an exclusive tour through the Trinity Groves and decided to check out the progress of the soon to open Four Corners Brewing Company where I found owner John Sims hard at work cleaning kegs and otherwise waiting for bureaucracy to lend its hand at finalizing his legal permits to operate and produce his first batch of beer at 423 Singleton.

When I entered the brewery that is still under construction I met up with Sims who happened to be chatting with Franconia Brewery owner, Dennis Wehrmann.             Continue reading
