There is plenty of love to be found on Fitzhugh near Bryan Street. That is where you will discover Jimmy’s Food Store, home of the Italian sausage kings and the largest hoard of Italian wines in the state. You will also stumble onto a duo of spaces that hosts a fantastic little restaurant we hear so very little about in the media, but is first on the lips of oneophiles both near and far, Urbano Cafe.
Owned by Kristen and Mitch Kauffman, the tiny restaurant, and its sister room Urbano Too, is always filled with lively conversation and terrific wines supplemented by a short list of dishes that will please all palates. A recent visit netted a beautiful display of appetizers such as their Caprese S’Mores, a tantalizing meze of mozzarella between toasted crostini with tomato and balsamic syrup, and a salmon avocado poke ceviche with taro chips, green onions and ponzu drizzle.
