One of our favorite restaurants in Dallas sits proudly as one of the early adopters to the Lowest Greenville Avenue reboot, just across from Trader Joes. We have written about Nora numerous times, and love to pop in occasionally and check out the fantastic cocktails designed by Jason Kosmas, and the food made nightly by chef-owner Matt Pikar. Photos indicate that the new Green House Market being built in the NorthPark Mall will feature apparitions and specters. The new market will open 8am to 10pm seven days a week and will focus on healthy, local, and organic cuisine accommodating a variety of special needs ranging from Vegan, Vegetarian, and Gluten-Free, as well as food that will make the Pescatarian and Paleo dieters happy.
The food truck turn brick and mortar expects to open November 1, 2013, with our without the ghosts. The soon-to-open market is now hiring a General Manager.

A name you may not be familiar with in the Dallas restaurant world is Yaser Khalaf, but chances are you have dined at one of his Dallas restaurants. Currently he owns several including Baboush, Ketchup Burger Bar, and Farnatchi, plus he is opening yet another in Trinity Groves called Souk. We spoke to Yaser yesterday and he mentioned yet another new restaurant that will be walking distance to Baboush that will be a Middle Eastern Bakery and Restaurant. He also formerly owned Medina and LA Gourmet Pizza. A work horse.
Mr. Khalaf is sort of an enigma with an infectious laugh. He runs restaurants, and also designs and builds. He has a keen eye for beauty and that is vibrantly displayed at Baboush where we spent the evening chatting about food and happiness. Early in the evening he pointed at one of the bar stools and said it was made in Pennsylvania with local wood, but the leather and design was made in the Middle East. Earlier today my friend who runs the whimsical Oh So Cynthia webby called out in terror when she received word that the Highland Park Middle School cafeteria would be shut down until October. This means thousands of Parkie moms will have to pay their housekeepers overtime to create a satisfying meal for their children to take to school.

This week on craveRADIO we will feature chef Anthony Van Camp who will be joining us just after his demo at the Taste of Dallas in Fair Park on Sunday. Van Camp will be telling us about his Anatole experience and the interesting job of converting Nana into SER Steak + Spirits, a steak house.

Taste Addison is beautiful way to spend a fantastic Spring weekend, dining on tasty bite from local restaurants and listening to cool bands. This year will be bigger and better than ever with bands such as blue October, The O’s and the Turnpike Troubadours.
This year’s Taste Addison offers plenty of family friendly events including arts and crafts, a kids carnival and as always, Bonkers the Clown. What an exciting time to enjoy to be living in Dallas. There are so many cultural advances and unique restaurants popping up across Dallas and Fort Worth. Bowl and Barrel is certainly one of the more unique restaurants to hit Dallas running. While the food is not exactly haute cuisine, it is fun, brave and unique due mainly to the chef who crafted the menu, Sharon Hage. We are fortunate to have her brilliant talent seeding these new restaurants with her very special touch.
Bowl and Barrel is the bowling alley with terrific food in a separate restaurant area and features the largest community dining table I have seen in Dallas. On a recent visit a guest explained that she was new to the Dallas area and came to Bowl and Barrel not knowing anyone, and left with a handful of friends that she met up with nights later. This is the power of dining with strangers. For those wanting a more private setting there are plenty of seats available in the more traditional sense. Continue reading

The CBS Baking Show is casting in Dallas this weekend, for what should be a fun and exciting time to watch. If you didn’t already submit your entry you won’t be able to participate, but you can witness the bakers in hot competition.
