By Crave Staff

Sendai, Japan has a population of just over one million and is the closest major city to the epicenter of the Japanese earthquake. Sendai and Dallas have been International Friendship Cities since 1997 and part of the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth. Since the alliance was formed, the cities have shared cultures and experiences through exchange programs.

As Japan tries to recover from the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis those on this side of the friendship are extremely concerned for their friends in Japan. Dallas, Fort Worth and Southlake are three cities in the area that share sister-city relationships with Japan.

On April 9th over 140+ artists, photographers, sculptors, chefs, poets and performers will raise money for Japan and Sendai here in Dallas. More artists are joining in each day. 100% of the money raised will go toward the beneficiaries UNICEF for medication and aid, to those needing immediate medical help.

The event will feature all the local artist’s of all media, performance artists, DJ’s, chef-created food and drinks, and free valet.  The organizers are seeking patrons to purchase art here the proceeds will benefit the cause, and any donations.
