Stone Family Benefit BBQ This Weekend

by Crave Staff

Below find all the info you will need for this thoughtful event that has banded together two of the top barbecue restaurants in Dallas, and more recently the addition of The Grape’s chef Brian Luscher, to raise funds for the family of a fallen firefighter this Sunday.

There will be some amazing items auctioned off to enhance the kitty including private dinners with D’s food critic Nancy Nichols and James Beard nominated and Cheap Bastard Alice Laussade. In addition to these two fine ladies of the culinary world, there will be private chef dinners offered, gift certificates and  a plethora of sports memorabilia.

Diane Mason Fourton of Pecan Lodge Catering and Jill Grobowsky Bergus of Lockhart Smokehouse were so moved by the tragic death of Lt. Shannon Stone at the Texas Rangers Game on July 7, 2011 that they have put aside barbecue competitiveness to help the family of the fallen firefighter with a fundraiser.

The event will feature a barbecue dinner with smoked meats from both Pecan Lodge (D Magazine’s “Best BBQ” in Dallas winner for 2011) and Lockhart Smokehouse (our local Cathedral for carnivores), burnt end pizzas from Il Cane Rosso’s Jay Jerrier  along with drinks, music and a live auction. The auction items are being finalized and will be announced soon.
Sponsors include Dallas Farmers Market, Texas BBQ Posse, Full Custom Gospel BBQ, Il Cane Rosso, Edible DFW, Crave DFW, Dallas Observer, Dallas Morning News, US Foods, Deep Eddy Vodka, Lonestar Beer, Dirt, Oh* Brownie, Ain’t No Mo Butter Cakes and Old World Sausage.
Local food and barbecue fans wishing to support the Stone family through this exciting event can purchase tickets, priced at $30 each at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/1940775913
