We just spoke with Eddie “Lucky” Campbell, bartender to the stars, and he filled us in on a pop-up bar that he and partner Michael Martensen will operate starting this Thursday at 6pm and will be open each Thursday, Friday and Saturday through the end of the month of October. The name of the temporary bar will be called Bar 828.
The location for the pop-up is 828 West Davis and they will be featuring and experimenting with new cocktails for the duo’s new bar, High and Rye, that should be open sometime in November or December. Techniques will include smoking cocktails and hand chipping ice from large blocks of frozen spring water.
The two barmen will not be running solo on the project, they say guest bartenders like Sean Conner at Whiskey cake will be joining in on the fun. Additional barmen working 828 will be Brad Hensarling of the Usual Bar Ft Worth, Kyle Hilla of Bolsa, and Omar Yeefoon of Peoples Last Stand.
We will have more information probably tonight. There is talks of food trucks providing food for the bar, and we will obtain a schedule probably later tonight.
