Check Out the Latest Pop-Up Bar Hid In 2612

by Steven Doyle

This past weekend we checked out the new pop-up Hid In 2612 cocktail lounge in Deep Ellum hosted by Michael Martensen of Cedars Social and Brian McCullough of the soon-to-open Standard Pour in the new space that Cane Rosso’s Jay Jerrier happily donated. The proceeds will benefit the Deep Ellum Community Association.

The décor of the tiny space is fun and spirited with much of the furnishings coming from Again & Again diva Leslie Pritchard and the design gurus at KingZuluBong.

The first night was jammed packed with local industry insiders including Rocco Milano and the unofficial mayor of Oak Cliff, Rob Shearer.

Drinks were flying across the bar at break-neck speeds as McCullough would spike 7 to 10 drinks at a time while Bonnie Wilson from Whiskey Cake was handling short orders. Nico Ponce was also on hand pouring hsi signature cocktails.

The crowd snapped up each drink as fast as they could be poured at a cost of an even ten bucks each. Deep Ellum Brewing Company donated a keg of their Festivus brew and those were being dispensed as fast as they could be siphoned off.

This new version of the pop-up bar 828 won’t be in business nearly as long and the next dates it will be open to the public is Thursday February 9 and Friday the 10th. We spoke with Charlie Papaceno from the Windmill Lounge and he said he will take a shift at Hid In. Look for other area barmen to make their way as well.
