Village Kitchen Opens Thursday

We have been patiently waiting for the Village Kitchen to open up, you know, the re-imagined Marquee Grill in Highland  Park Village. Today we were sent word that it will open this coming Thursday, August 22nd for lunch and dinner.  Village Kitchen promises an approachable yet playful menu in a comfortable and casual setting.

Executive Chef Andre Natera explains, “Village Kitchen will be a true neighborhood restaurant that will serve the needs of our guests any day of the week with a lunch and dinner menu that is accessible and relevant to the entire family with reasonable price points.  Our kid’s menu will offer classics and healthy choices as well.  We will also be offering a menu of indulgent shakes and floats.  Each day of the week will feature one particular entrée unique to that day.”

Chef Natera has created a menu including items such as roasted chicken with quinoa pilaf, BBQ ribs, tomato and crispy burrata salad and a Pecan Lodge smoked brisket flatbread with daily chalkboard specials ranging from fried chicken with bacon and chive waffles to lobster thermidor.  Natera says, “These are dishes that will resonate and are familiar but are still chef-driven and fun.  We are staying away from fine dining and offering something for everyone to enjoy.”

The dining room is a relaxed atmosphere with hardwood floors, wooden tables covered with butcher’s block paper, neighborhood-inspired art that celebrates the rich history, with comfortable banquets around the perimeter of the room.  Dining room seating holds up to 54 with patio dining totaling 38 seats.  The bar menu will feature an extensive list of craft beers on tap, a variety of house cocktails as well as sangrias by the pitcher and frozen margaritas.

Village Kitchen makes up the first floor of the operation with  the second  level to open soon as Toko V, a world seafood and sushi bar. Look for that announcement very soon.
