GALT Cooking For The Hounds At The Mercury (You Can Win Two Tickets)

It’s time for our 8th annual Cooking for the Hounds at The Mercury that benefits the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. New this year is an optional  wine pairing with each course.  Calais Winery will be providing the tastings. You can win two tickets to this event by adding to our comment section below. We will award the tickets Thursday morning, but there are just a few seats available and you will ant to secure yours for this special luncheon for a great cause.  After the jump we will share all the details, including the menu for the event.

Get ready for an afternoon full of food, drinks & a silent auction at The Mercury, 11909 Preston Road, Dallas, on Saturday, October 19th from 2-5pm.

We are honored to once again have the culinary skills of Executive Chef Chris Ward of The Mercury cooking for GALT.

Chef Ward will demonstrate the following favorite recipes:

Kobe Beef Tataki with Toasted Sesame Seeds and Ponzu Sauce

Tomato Vegetable Risotto

Shrimp Creole

Crepe Suzette

Wine pairings will be

2011 Cuvee du Manoir – Tempranillo (Texas High Plains, Newsom Vineyards). Dark cherries, spices, cigar box, chewy tannins and long finish. 

2012 Cuvee Principale – Roussanne (Texas High Plains, Barrel Fermented) Pear, Black tea, Honey, Minerality and long complex finish. 

2010 Cuvee des Marrons – Red Dessert Wine (“Port Style”, fortified, 375ml)  Dark cherries, cocoa powder, long nutty finish

One Drink Ticket is included in your ticket price  for your choice of red or white wine or a Greyhound drink and additional beverages can be purchased at the cash bar.  Please note the wine pairing will be a generous tasting pour for each of the 3 wines described above  for an additional $20.

A silent auction will take place during the event. Items include spa and restaurant certificates, decorative items, jewelry, items for your dog, and much more…

VIPs will receive premium seating at the cooking bar and a special gift.

    Greyhounds, good food and good wine are some of my favorite things! I’d be very happy to win and my wife would be glad to be taken somewhere other than the fair.

      Chef Ward has had a great influence in my cooking since I was 17 and got his book. Ten years later it sure would be fun to enjoy his food and this menu looks great.
