Fundraiser For Local Chef Raises $20,000

DSC00445by Steven Doyle

Last evening a community gathered at 3015 in Trinity Groves in support of a local chef,Ulysses Galvan. Galvan is suffering from the affects of leukemia and currently awaiting a bone marrow transplant. The event last evening was held to help defray costs not covered by the chef’s insurance policy. Stepping in to orchestrate and plan were the owners of Fluent, a local concierge service and lifestyle management company in Dallas, Lisa Moore and Jack Son, along with Galvan’s employer and long time friend, chef Katherine Clapner of Dude, Sweet Chocolate.

Together the group were able to call on over 20 local chefs to participate in an evening filled with food and wine. 325 guests paid $50 each to sample fare prepared by the chefs as they mingled and bid heavily on many silent auction items donated for the cause. An early count stated the the event raised $20,000.

Galvan, who is 34 years old, has three children, one of which will be the bone marrow donor.

We have scenes from last evening.
