We visited Ida Claire this week, which just opened recently in their beautiful location in Addison, and we will share our first look in tomorrow’s edition of craveDFW. But we are still ecstatic about the desserts prepared by corporate pastry chef Sarah Lewis.
Chef Lewis prepares all the pastries for the company that owns such restaurants as Whiskey Cake, Mexican Sugar, The Ranch in Las Colinas and even Velvet Taco. Ever had that Red Velvet cake at Velvet Taco? That is a Lewis cake.
At the newly opened Ida Claire, Lewis has a passel of pastries to keep the (large) crowd happy, including the Vice Cake. Think on this a bit: Smoked Stout Cake, Coffee Buttercream, Candied Bacon abound including a large chunk of bacon to garnish, and a chocolate ganache. Layers upon layers of this beautiful cake that tastes every bit as good as it looks.
We also enjoyed the Bartender’s Cake which was loaded up with pecans and brown sugar cream cheese frosting. Both cakes were insanely good. You might want to drop by later tonight and catch a movie on the patio, order up a cocktail and share a slice of something good. Something with chocolate.
