Royal Blue Grocery in Highland Park Village will open its doors late September or early October 2015 at 1 Highland Park Village in Dallas, Texas. Locally owned and operated by Dallas residents Zac Porter, Emily Ray-Porter and Cullen Potts, the 6,000 square foot two-story urban market will serve as the shopping center’s new flagship grocer while also offering breakfast, lunch and dinner service.

Originally founded in Austin of 2006, each Royal Blue Grocery carries a different variety of food, beverage and household needs tailored to the surrounding neighborhood and people it serves.  This new store (the largest in the Royal Blue Grocery family) will feature mainstay grocery departments such as produce, bakery, butcher shop, deli, floral, beer, wine and more with the added bonus of catering, a café, patio seating, and a Stumptown coffee bar. With seating for 70-plus in the café, on the mezzanine level and on the outside patio, it will also serve as a charming gathering spot for the grab-and-go breakfast, lunch or dinner menu options. Wine selections can be purchased at retail prices to enjoy onsite.

Co-owner Zac Porter says, “ In all my years of retail real estate, I’ve never seen a more perfect marriage of a concept and a location. With this specific location, we will be filling a number of roles under one roof — starting with our primary role of a convenient compact grocery featuring gourmet items, everyday staples and in between.” He adds, “ We’re convenient, but not just a convenience store. We carry gourmet products, but we’re not just a gourmet grocery store. We feel it’s important that everyday household brand names are available. From French’s, Heinz and Frito-Lay to Borden, Clorox, Dr Pepper and more in addition to our carefully curated specialty items, the goal is to offer a great selection of many shoppers’ favorite specialty items and necessities, all in one building.”

The Highland Park Village store will be stocked with local, national and international products. For gourmet items, the store will carry brands such as Olympic Provisions, Cypress Grove Chevre, Olli Salumeria, Grandma’s Humus and McClure’s Pickles; wines from Cakebread Cellars and Sassicaia to Opus One and Orin Swift Cellars; and for daily specialty household needs there will be Method, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Avalon Organics, Alba Botanica and more. Local patissiers, chocolatiers, fromagiers, juicers and butchers will offer their goods in-store as well.

Opening daily at 7am and not closing until midnight, Royal Blue Grocery in Highland Park Village aims to fill the day-to-day needs and desires of the neighborhood it serves and the people who frequent it.
