Luscher Red Hots Now On Menu At New York Subs

Many mourned the loss of Brian C. Luscher’s hotdoggery in Deep Ellum but as with all great things you may now find the dog in a sandwich shop that happens to make excellent subs. The hot dog is dressed wonderfully, sans neon relish, but still delicious. The wiener is longer than its specially made poppy seed bun from Village Baking Company and loaded with plenty of extras, but you may navigate your own without difficulty.

Andrew Kelly of New York Subs in University Park across from SMU on Hillcrest told us that he has been wanting to add a hot dog for some time. We’ve heard this story for nearly a year. Kelly has been a fan of Luscher’s dog and the two chefs have plenty in common. Luscher is an old Chicago guy living in Texas, Kelly worked in Chicago for a dozen years cheffing at several restaurants. Luscher also visits New York Subs often, usually with family in tow most late Sunday afternoons.

It only made sense that the two pair up and that is just what they did. New York Sub’s now offers the Luscher Red Hot in all of its snappy glory. If you miss the neon, tell them politely you might enjoy that particular condiment and I bet it will happen.

Visit New York Subs at 3411 Asbury.
