The hot dog is dressed wonderfully, sans neon relish, but still delicious. The wiener is longer than its specially made poppy seed bun from Village Baking Company and loaded with plenty of extras, but you may navigate your own without difficulty. Continue reading

It has been a year since we revised our best hot dog list, and the list changed dramatically. Today we have bigger and better options when it comes to the reliable tube steak. Check out our list of favorites and enjoy all these dogs during National Hot Dog Month:

Luscher’s Red Hots:  You might know Brian Luscher; chef, charcuterie maven, owner of The Grape. A few years back he moved into a new arena when he devised the Post Oak Red Hot. Luscher’s Red Hots Brings A Taste Of Chicago To Deep Ellum

DSC06834by Steven Doyle

I can only envision how chef Brian C. Luscher sees the world. I am sure it is bacon lined, sausage filled, and burger-fied. This is a good thing. The man sticks with what he does best, and that is to bring a slice of Chicago to the good people of Dallas, Texas. He makes simply the very best hot dog in the state, and has a few updated tricks up his sleeve at his new restaurant, Luscher’s Red Hots located in Deep Ellum. The amount of media coverage has been so overwhelming that he apologized to his fans on Facebook. No apology necessary. Just keep doing what you do best, chef.   Continue reading

This long awaited hot spot also serves up shaved Wagyu beef Italian sandwiches (the latest rage in Dallas), Greek gyros, roasted pork and gairdinera sandwiches served with natural gravy, and the beloved “Uncle Jimmy” which is a creation of Luscher’s made with roasted pork and sweet and hot Italian sausage.    Continue reading
