Papaya Kitchen, a long-standing Dallas favorite for authentic Vietnamese cuisine formerly known as Green Papaya, reopens its doors to craft new stories with their classic unforgettable flavors. Behind this exciting venture is Alan Mai, the original owner and industry veteran, whose passion lies in the art of creating delectable Vietnamese dishes to share with the Dallas community.
The story of Papaya Kitchen is not merely about a restaurant; it’s a statement about passion, reinvention, and a heartfelt commitment to local community. After the change of ownership of Green Papaya in 2019, Mai was approached countless times by loyal customers who missed not only the authentic Vietnamese cuisine but also the community aspect the restaurant had created.
During his retirement and throughout the pandemic, Mai continued to feel his heart yearning for the aroma of the original Green Papaya kitchen. Finally, he has decided to come out of retirement to give back to the community that’s been supporting him for years.

Mai, with his neighborly personality and a wealth of experience spanning two decades, aims to make Papaya Kitchen the go-to Vietnamese take-out place for the Dallas area. “I’m back, and let’s recreate memories again,” declares Mai, emphasizing his commitment to quality that extends beyond the food, embracing a warm and inclusive atmosphere where customers of all backgrounds feel welcomed.
Operating from Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 8 PM, Papaya Kitchen invites patrons to savor its familiar culinary offerings through the new to-go ordering system, redefining the concept of cozy kitchen cooking. Orders can be conveniently placed via the store website, providing customers with the flexibility to either pick up their orders or utilize third-party service Clover. From our heart to your home, Papaya Kitchen is dedicated to delivering the essence of fresh, healthy, and friendly Vietnamese cuisine. Pick up at their location at 5200 Lemmon Ave., Suite 102, Dallas, TX 75209.
At the core of Papaya Kitchen’s resurgence is Mai’s commitment to quality, keeping his loyal customers in mind every step of the way. Starting March 11, patrons can expect the return of the same beloved dishes that have been cherished over the years, as Papaya Kitchen embraces its roots while introducing a new chapter in Dallas’ culinary experiences.
