Big Al’s Smokehouse Dallas Celebrates 50 Years with a New Twist

Big Al’s Smokehouse, a cornerstone of Dallas’ barbecue scene, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. This milestone is marked by an exciting new offering: cocktails. For the first time, patrons can enjoy expertly crafted drinks alongside their favorite smoked meats, blending tradition with innovation.

Founded in 1974, Al’s Smokehouse quickly became a beloved local favorite, known for its slow-cooked brisket, tender ribs, and signature sauces. Over the decades, it has built a reputation for serving some of the best barbecue in Dallas, all in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The new cocktail menu is designed to complement the rich, smoky flavors of the barbecue. Spiked Sweet Tea that is a blend of Caine’s Pekoe Black brewed tea with a sweet kick, taking the most popular drink at Big Al’s and making it into a refreshing cocktail; and Big Al’s Margarita: A twist on Texas’ most popular cocktail, named after Al Plaskoff who founded the smokehouse on Inwood in 1974.

Lauran Weiner, daughter of the legendary Big Al and now leading the business, is proud to offer the cocktails for less than Dallas’ market rate at just $10 for a 16-ounce glass, with extra shots for $4 and gallons to-go form $34.

As Big Al’s Smokehouse embarks on this new chapter, it remains committed to the traditions that have made it a Dallas favorite. The introduction of cocktails not only enhances the dining experience but also signifies the smokehouse’s ability to evolve while honoring its roots.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, there’s never been a better time to visit Big Al’s Smokehouse. Raise a glass, savor some legendary barbecue, and join in the celebration of 50 incredible years.
