Wine Spectator, the foremost authority on wine worldwide, has announced the recipients of the 2024 Restaurant Awards, a prestigious accolade that recognizes the finest restaurants for their exceptional wine offerings. This year’s awards program celebrates a remarkable 3,777 dining establishments from all 50 states in the U.S. and over 75 countries across the globe.
According to Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher of Wine Spectator, the restaurant industry is experiencing significant growth and prosperity, surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time. In response to this positive trend, restaurateurs are investing in their wine programs to capitalize on the upswing. The Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program is designed to honor those restaurants that prioritize wine, and Shanken extends his congratulations to all 3,777 establishments for their unwavering commitment to wine and their outstanding wine lists.
Since its inception in 1981, the Restaurant Awards have remained the only program exclusively dedicated to recognizing excellence in restaurant wine service. The awards are divided into three tiers: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award. This year, there are 2,150, 1,531, and 96 winners, respectively, in each category.
In a remarkable addition to this year’s Grand Awards, Wine Spectator has bestowed this prestigious honor upon four new recipients: Grasing’s in Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA, Lazy Bear in San Francisco, CA, Le Bistro de l’Hôtel in Beaune, France, and The Yeatman in Porto, Portugal. The Restaurant Awards issue features exclusive profiles on each winner, highlighting the talented individuals responsible for curating their exceptional wine collections.
Wine Spectator’s special Restaurant Awards issue also delves into how today’s restaurants are reinvesting in their wine programs to secure a prosperous future. It explores the successful partnerships between restaurants and wineries, as well as winemakers, fostering stronger relationships and laying the foundation for continued growth.
Readers can look forward to the Restaurant Awards issue, featuring renowned chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud on the cover, which will be available on July 9th.
