Be Home Soon, a newly established gem on the East Side of Dallas, has quickly become a popular destination for those seeking a fresh twist on classic comfort food. The restaurant’s ambiance strikes a balance between industrial chic and cozy warmth. With its bare concrete floors and exposed ceiling beams, the setting feels contemporary yet inviting. A striking black-and-white mural adds a touch of artistic flair to the space, while a lively bar spans one side of the room, offering both atmosphere and an extensive drink selection.

The charm of Be Home Soon lies in its dynamic, ever-evolving menu, which can be found scrawled by hand on butcher paper mounted on the wall. This informal daily menu offers a rotating selection of two main dishes, four sides, and a dessert, often incorporating flavors from around the globe. Alongside this rotating menu, the permanent offerings cater to a variety of tastes, with comforting bar snacks like the popular onion dip and chips, vibrant salads, and a staggering array of drinks, including nearly 20 unique cocktails.
A very recent visit introduced us to their signature dishes. The meatloaf, with its caramelized exterior, was served with two distinct sauces: a savory brown gravy enriched with mushrooms and a tangy, sweet tomato sauce. Both complemented the hearty dish perfectly. The chicken and dumplings, on the other hand, was a comforting, creamy bowl featuring tender, shredded chicken and gnocchi-sized dumplings. A side of lemon-dill green beans was fresh and flavorful, providing a welcome burst of brightness.

Currently on the menu is a tarragon mussels with white wine & fennel. The mussels, tender and succulent, are perfectly complemented by the aromatic tarragon, which imparts a hint of aniseed flavor. The white wine enhances the dish with its crisp acidity, while the fennel adds a delicate sweetness and subtle earthiness, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. The broth, rich and flavorful, envelops the mussels for the ultimate indulgence. This dish offers a sophisticated and satisfying taste of the sea with a touch of refined elegance. And Dallas digs their mussels.
During another lunch visit, we savored a rich coconut and sweet potato soup, spiced with a fiery salsa macha, which was both hearty and satisfying. The coconut adobo chicken sandwich, though delicious, was a wee bit on the expensive side for the portion size.
Be Home Soon also implements a 20% service charge automatically, which helps ensure exceptional service without the need for additional tipping. How do you feel about that?
