Second Thursdays at the Carter in FW are Getting Some Excitement

Get ready for an exciting new season of Second Thursdays at the Carter, a series of free, monthly events that bring together art, cocktails, conversation, and creativity at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art (the Carter) in the heart of Fort Worth’s Cultural District. Each month offers something fresh, with a variety of experiences to connect you with art in unique ways. Whether it’s live music, artist talks, or hands-on art-making, there’s always something new to discover at the Carter. This season don’t miss exclusive highlights from the Museum’s collection, and enjoy a great time with friends, drinks, and a little bit of artistic flair.

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming up:

Thursday, April 10: Drink & Draw (5–8 p.m.)
One of the most beloved events in the series, Drink & Draw invites you to sip cocktails while sketching in the galleries. DJ Wild in the Streets will provide the beats, and Carter Community Artist Dan Jian will lead drawing workshops inspired by the Museum’s stunning collection.

Thursday, May 8: Toasts & Tunes (5–8 p.m.)
This event spills out onto the Museum’s Porch, offering a perfect blend of art, music, and dance. Explore the Museum’s exhibits inside, then head outdoors to enjoy live tunes, dancing, and the beautiful spring weather.

Thursday, June 12: Portraits & People (5–8 p.m.)
This evening centers around the iconic portraits of Richard Avedon, featuring 40 of his powerful works from the In the American West series. Don’t miss the chance to see these larger-than-life images up close in the special Richard Avedon at the Carter exhibition.

Second Thursdays at the Carter is free and open to everyone, and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation can be provided upon advance request. These events are generously supported by the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program.
