Get ready to celebrate Hispanic heritage and tradition at the Dallas Cinco de Mayo Parade, presented by the Oak Cliff Coalition for the Arts (OCCA). Set for Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon, this annual event will light up the Oak Cliff neighborhood, offering a mile-long procession along the historic Jefferson Boulevard—home to Dallas’ vibrant Hispanic community. As the biggest and longest-running parade in North Texas, this lively celebration is free and open to the public, thanks to support from the Dallas Tourism Public Improvement District and other generous sponsors. NBC5 / Telemundo39 is the official media sponsor, bringing extra flair to the festivities with in-kind promotional support.

The fun begins at 8 a.m. at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center (223 W. Jefferson Blvd.), where guests will be greeted with a warm Texas welcome. Enjoy coffee, pan dulce (sweet pastries), and tunes spun by a local deejay while soaking in the festive atmosphere.
“We say, ‘It’s history, it’s tradition, let’s celebrate!'” shares Sylvana Alonzo, OCCA Founding Member. “The Dallas Cinco de Mayo Parade & Fiesta is a must-see for all ages. It’s the perfect chance to dive into the vibrant Hispanic culture that shapes our community in Dallas.”
At 9 a.m., the action kicks off with the Parade Step Off Confetti Shoot at the corner of 300 W. Jefferson Blvd. and S. Madison Ave. Local dignitaries and special guests will lead the way for a colorful procession that features eye-catching floats, decorated vehicles, marching bands, giant inflatables, dance troupes, and more. The entire community will come together to showcase their spirit and pride along the historic streets.
Don’t miss the Parade Review Stand, located at 500 W. Jefferson Blvd. & S. Llewellyn Ave., where bilingual emcees will announce the parade entries and judges will pick the Best of Parade winners.
A fan favorite is back this year—the iconic “Selena Movie Car.” This candy-apple red 1969 Chevrolet Impala lowrider, famously featured in the 1997 film about Tejano legend Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, will make a special return appearance. Owner Lewis Sevilla, a longtime lowrider enthusiast, will be on hand to celebrate his unique role in the movie. After the parade, from 11 a.m. to noon, you can snap photos with the car at the nearby Selena mural (306 S. Bishop Ave.). For more photo ops, be sure to visit the OCCA Cinco de Mayo Mural at 532 W. Jefferson Blvd.

New this year are the larger-than-life Mojiganga parade characters. These giant puppets, inspired by iconic Mexican figures, will add even more excitement to the celebration. Spectators can vote for their favorite Mojiganga puppet, and the winning entry will earn a cash prize!
Throughout the day, parade-goers can enjoy Tejano beats from the Tejano to the Bone Radio Network, as well as shop at vendor booths along W. Jefferson Blvd. For sponsorship opportunities and more parade details, visit oakcliffart.org.
Mark your calendars—you won’t want to miss this unforgettable fiesta!
