Chef Henry Johnson, Executive Chef at EVELYN in Dallas’ Design District, will represent Texas on the upcoming season of Gordon Ramsay’s hit culinary competition Hell’s Kitchen. Season 24, themed “Battle of the States,” premieres Thursday, September 25 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
For the first time in Hell’s Kitchen history, every chef will be from and represent a different state.
Johnson’s role at EVELYN takes on even greater significance as he competes on the national stage. His journey began when a recruiter discovered him on social media, ultimately leading him to the competition filmed at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. “You are literally on camera 24/7,” said Johnson. “Besides being able to learn from a Michelin star chef, it was such a great experience pushing myself to the limit. Creating dishes in 30 minutes with very few ingredients is every chef’s dream.”
Johnson described the friendships he made with fellow contestants as one of the most rewarding parts of the show, calling them some of the most talented chefs he has ever worked alongside. He also reflected on the challenges, noting that being away from his family for so long was the most difficult part of the process. “I’m extremely humbled and honored to be able to represent Texas in the upcoming battle of the states,” he added.
EVELYN, an old Hollywood-inspired restaurant and lounge, is the latest concept from Reach Hospitality, the group behind The Mexican, Black Tap, and Pie Tap, embodies the allure and mystique of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
The stunning 9,500 square foot restaurant and lounge features multiple unique spaces blending elevated dining, impeccable cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere infused with disco, rock ‘n’ roll, and dancing, EVELYN transports guests through different eras of entertainment while offering a modern steakhouse menu. As Executive Chef, Johnson brings a culinary vision that matches the restaurant’s energy.
Viewers across Texas and beyond can cheer on Chef Henry Johnson when Hell’s Kitchen: Battle of the States premieres Thursday, September 25 on FOX
