Mike Snider of AllGood Cafe Retires, Sells Restaurant

After 25 years at the heart of Deep Ellum, Mike Snider, the owner of AllGood Café, is retiring, closing one chapter but leaving a legacy that will echo through the neighborhood for years to come.

Snider has been part of the Deep Ellum scene since the mid-1980s. He’s been a concert promoter, music historian, philosopher, philanthropist, and hard-working restaurateur — the kind of person whose passion for music and community is impossible to ignore.

In the early ’90s, Mike began promoting shows around town, bringing everything from western swing and rockabilly to gypsy jazz, punk bluegrass, and Texas singer-songwriters to local stages. Through Mike Snider Presents, he introduced Dallas to legends like Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ray Price, Junior Brown, and the Old 97’s — sometimes believing in acts before anyone else did. “Few people in North Texas have done more for live music than Mike,” says Old 97’s lead singer Rhett Miller.

When he opened AllGood Café in 2000, he combined his love of music with a love of food. The small stage tucked in the corner became a gathering spot for locals and travelers alike, where a chicken-fried steak and a good show could be enjoyed in the same moment. It was a place where everyone felt welcome, and the music always felt alive.

Now, Mike is stepping back, but AllGood isn’t going anywhere. Local musician and producer John Pedigo and his partner Robin Gill are taking the reins. They plan to honor Mike’s vision, keeping the food and music flowing while adding their own love for fun and community. “The AllGood has always had the best vibe — artists, neighbors, friends, tourists, all mixing together,” Pedigo says. “We’re not changing Mike’s vision, just building on it.”

So while Mike may be retiring, his spirit will linger in every note played on that little stage and every plate served from the kitchen. In Deep Ellum, AllGood Café will always be a place where the music plays on and everyone feels at home.
