What’s Eating Your Phone?

Not a day goes by where we don’t spot a handful of people in restaurants snapping photos of their catch of the day. It has become a national obsession, and as our phones become better integrated with superior photographic abilities, our handiwork becomes increasingly better. Last week we started a new feature called “What’s Eating Your Phone” where you send us your favorite food shots, and the response was simply amazing. We literally were sitting on hundreds of your photographs within the first hour. Genaro’s Offers Excellent Mix Of Yucatan-Style Seafood

On our adventure to fined excellent seafood in Dallas during this time of Lent, we found a restaurant that is steeped up in seafood. Although not a traditional seafood restaurant, Genaro’s opened for business in November of 2013 and serves up a healthy amount of seafood with traditional Yucatan and Tex Mex-style offerings. The restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Genaro Silva. You may know Silva from such restaurants as Genaro’s Tropical, Moctezuma’s, Garmo’s which he operated as far back as the 1980’s. They also had the bent towards fresh seafood.

First Look: Pozo Mercado

Tonight Pozo Mercado opens its doors to entertain the dining and sipping set on McKinney Avenue. The new venture from La Reve, the same folks who run Sfuzzi and Standard Pour, has some really nice Mexican food set in the gorgeous old house that was formerly St John’s Wood. And late at night they rock that house with cool tunes and superb cocktails.

When looking to the cocktail menu, think Bryan McCullough from Standard Pour which is situated exactly next door to Pozo. As president of the Bartender’s Guild, he is one of the most respected and talented cocktailers in Dallas. Some amazing drinks are being poured at Pozo, along with a boozy flight of frozen drinks that are every bit as creamy as they are dreamy. Normally we would abstain from frozen drinks due to their inane ability to cause brain breeze, but also for their undesired lack of alcohol. Not the case here. Proceed with caution. Ahoy! Crawfish Await At Hook, Line and Sinker

Dreaming of a dining experience in a beach atmosphere? Fresh seafood, cold beverages, sun kissing your skin, picnic tables, and a huge patio. Hook, Line, & Sinker may leave the sand in Galveston, however they bring you the motor from the boat, and prefer you wear your flip flops. Come on in.

John Tuma, Hook, Line and Sinker founder has been pleasing seafood lovers for 17 years. His original location, still on Lemmon Ave, has locals coming back time and time again. John has paired up with Markus Pineyro of Urban Taco and created the Del Sur Restaurant Group. Continue reading →

Prepare For Margarita Meltdown Tonight With $5 Ritas

We have been touting this weekend’s Margarita Meltdown (Sunday, May 27th, 3pm) with vigor for a few reasons. Besides the fact we are sponsors of the event, we also happen to enjoy a fantastic margarita.

You can prepare for this event tonight by stopping in one of the many participating bars or restaurants. The list of participants is growing with lightening fast momentum. If you are a bartender in Dallas, Texas and can’t make a decent margarita perhaps it is time to select another industry.
