First Look: Alligator Cafe

by Steven Doyle

We visited the newly opened Alligator Café located in the Casa Linda shopping center this weekend to check out the new digs and to tear into a few po boys and etouffee. It would seem that most of East Dallas had the same idea. There was an hour wait at 7pm, but the crowd waited patiently knowing they would soon be rewarding with steaming bowls of Cajun and Creole goodness.

Originally the Casa Linda location was to be a second store for owner Ivan Pugh. That was before talks of repairs and rising rent left Pugh with no option but to close the original location on Live Oak.

The new restaurant boasts a full bar, promise of live music on a regular basis, and a wait staff comprised of the same employees of the old store.

For a new restaurant the evening ran smoothly with a well trained staff, fantastically prepared meals and a beaming crowd who was appreciative of a new choice of restaurants for the busy East Dallas location.

Love the entertainment they’ve been having…Cheryl Arena, Sonny Collie, Hash Brown and the rest! The food is always great! Probably the closest you’ll get to the tastes of NOLA right here in DFW!
