We checked back in with Chefs Bob Stephenson and Carlos Arevalo of Keller’s newest restaurant FnG Eats, and they are settling in quite nicely after their August opening in Keller Town Center. Blessed fall brings changes to the menu that focuses heavily on locally grown produce wheeled over from the Keller Farmer’s Market in their little red wagon.
Bob and Carlos are creating a neighborhood watering hole, and the sleek and amiable bar is a consistent draw. Orders for Deep Ellum IPA have doubled since the August opening, and refreshments such as the bourbon vanilla and black cherry shot are perfect for the welcomed cool-down. More cabernets will be featured, as will sparklingwine options for the holidays.
Chef Bob is a spontaneous cook and will often make dishes that can only be featured on the FnG Facebook page. Many items, such as his pork tenderloin with cherry bourbon sauce, will only last a couple of hours after a listing on the FnG Eats page.
The real excitement, however, is the debut of the weekend brunch planned to start just after Thanksgiving. The chefs have worked out a partnership with the local bakers at Sweet Memories to supply items such as carrot cakes for their version of a holiday French toast. Chicken and waffles, pepper and bacon biscuits with gravy, alongside continental items such as scratch-made scones, Greek yogurt and fresh fruit are a continuation of the aim to create a go-to spot for the locals.
Even the Wi-Fi has been upgraded in preparation for the launch. Chef Bob’s overarching vision is to build a community where locals can hang out and enjoy the friendly lifestyle this flourishing little town affords.
Additional information may be found in our First Look story we did just before the grand opening.
