Rathbun’s Blue Plate which is located in Preston Center is closed to re-concept.
After four years of operations, Kent Rathbun Concepts has decided to close Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen and re-concept the space in the fall of 2014. “We have thoroughly enjoyed satisfying our Blue Plate guests over the years and look forward to hosting you at our other restaurants in the market, Abacus, Jasper’s or at an event hosted by Kent Rathbun Catering”, said owner and Chef Kent Rathbun.
“We are actively engaged in discussions on future locations, excited about the recently new menu innovations introduced at our existing restaurants and continuing our broad community involvement of which we have been a participant over the last 14 years.”
Rathbun later said that rent was never an issue, but traffic was slow in the evenings. “If we had the same number of guests in the evening as we did for lunches we would not be having this conversation,” said Rathbun.
Look for new things to be happening in the north Dallas area, including the possibility of a new Jaspers.
I went to have lunch at Rathbuns Blue Plate in Preston Center, only to find it is closed. Instead I walked across the street and had a wonderful seafood lunch at Peak’s Wood Fired Grill, where the chef, Scott Hoffner, was formerly the chef at T.J.’s Seafood. The crab cakes and seafood at Peak’s are delicious.
