The Henry Opens in Plano’s Legacy West on Oct. 21

When The Henry opened in Uptown in 2019, it quickly became the default answer for half the questions Dallas asks about where to eat. A business lunch, a birthday dinner, a Saturday brunch that runs long, and a coffee meeting that turns into a cocktail all ended up there. Seven years later, it’s still an Uptown fixture.

Now Plano gets its own. The Henry opens its second Dallas-Fort Worth location on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7700 Windrose Ave. in Legacy West, across the street from Legacy Hall. A grand opening celebration follows on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Plano is getting a full-size Henry. The new restaurant covers nearly 13,000 square feet, about the same as the Uptown original, and more than 2,200 square feet of that is a patio that wraps around the outside of the building. Inside, there’s a full-service coffee bar, an open kitchen, a central bar and a private dining room for groups.

The Henry comes from Arizona-based Fox Restaurant Concepts, the group behind Flower Child and North Italia, which founder Sam Fox started in Tucson in 1998. There are now about a dozen Henrys around the country, and Plano is the third in Texas, after Dallas and Houston.

The company has kept the pitch simple. In announcing the opening, Emma Elmes, The Henry’s regional director of restaurant operations, called Legacy West the kind of dynamic, walkable community where The Henry fits naturally.

The day starts at 8 a.m. with breakfast that’s quick if you need it to be: avocado toast, an egg sandwich, a quinoa burrito or quinoa bowl, and an egg white turkey omelette, plus coffee, matcha, chai and smoothies from the coffee bar.

Plano also gets something Uptown doesn’t have: a sushi menu. Six rolls are planned, including spicy tuna, California, pressed yellowtail, rainbow, ahi tuna crudo and a spicy avocado roll.

The rest of the menu will look familiar to Uptown regulars. There’s the Shrimp and Crab Louis, Cheesy Truffle Popovers, panko-crusted sea bass and filet mignon. The Wagyu cheeseburger comes stacked with lettuce, tomato, pickle, charred onion, white cheddar, American cheese and Henry sauce, with fries on the side. Seasonal dishes will rotate onto the lineup as well.

For dessert, there’s lemon olive oil cake, chocolate fudge pie, and a banana sticky date pudding with candied pecans and banana dulce de leche gelato. At the bar, the Lychee Martini makes the trip north, along with cocktails, craft beer, a global wine list and alcohol-free options.

Weekend brunch is on the schedule too, so expect the Legacy West crowd to find the patio quickly.

The Henry Plano will open daily at 8 a.m. It closes at 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The address is 7700 Windrose Ave., Suite G200, in Plano. Plano is already listed in the reservation system on The Henry’s website, and the restaurant posts updates on Instagram.
