DallasChocolate.org was started in June 2009 by Sander Wolf to promote artisan chocolate in Dallas, Texas. A big component of that is educating people about how complex and yet how accessible hand crafted chocolate can be. The 5th annual Dallas Chocolate Festival was held September 13th at the Addison Conference Center and featured samples from approximately 50 chocolatier’s and chocolate makers.
Sponsored by Cacao Barry, Intercontinental Dallas, Valrhona, Perfect Temper, Truffly Made Inc., TF Sales, and Whole Foods Market, this festival was as close as one could get to going to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. Many key players in the local and national chocolate scene offered generous samples of their finest chocolates and confections. By the end of the event, our sample boxes were spilling over with decadent treats, which we are still nibbling on days later.
Dallas by Chocolate, Taza Chocolate, Dude-Sweet Chocolate, Valrhona, ChocoSutra, Republica Del Cacao, Dallas Caramel Company, Madame Cocoa, Bark Chocolate, Srsly Chocolates, CocoAndre, Chocolate Secrets, and even Steel City Pops were represented. Offerings included bite sized morsels of hot and spicy Dominican cocoa, chipotle flavored Mexican cocoa, cilantro and lime flavored chocolate, chocolate drizzled parmesan crisps, white chocolate covered strawberries, even red and white wines from Lost Oak Winery.
The day also offered hourly vendor led classes which included Dallas Chocolatiers’ Roundtable led by Madame Cocoa, The Journey of Chocolate 1 – Seed to Bean led by Pacari Chocolate, The Journey of Chocolate 2 – Bean to Bar led by Armano Artisan Chocolate & Potomac Chocolate, They Journey of Chocolate 3 – Bar to Bon Bon led by Cacao Atlanta Chocolate Company, Kate Weiser Chocolate, and even Not Exactly Chocolate led by Toffee Treats, Chocolate Sweets and Dallas Carmel Company.
This event was perfect for all ages, and smiles could be seen from ages 5 to 85. To stay abreast of year round news and events, we encourage you to follow DallasChocolate.org on Facebook,Twitter @DallasChocolate, and Pinterest.
