“Date Night” Returns: Date Night in Dallas, Memorable Evenings for $100 or Less

This column is intended to provide you with upscale and unique dates that do not break the bank and prevent date night monotony. This evolving topic will vary weekly to accommodate foodies, drinkers, music lovers, and more. There will also be casual suggestions like dive bars, brunch, comedy shows, festivals, picnics, and wine tastings too.  This week’s installment has you starting off and focusing your budget at Origin Kitchen and Bar near McKinney Avenue and Knox Street.

Origin Kitchen and Bar excels in serving healthy food that tastes great!  Origin sources locally as much as possible and the sources many times change weekly.  Often they use greens from Tassione Farms, Windy Meadows Farm chicken, Vital Farm eggs, Village Bakery, and cheeses from Paula Lambert’s Mozzarella Company in Deep Ellum.  Even when working with distributors, Chef Scott Tobey is a big fan of using Farm to Table distribution, and the Go Texan partner program.   Continue reading

Date Night in Dallas: Memorable Evenings For $100 Or Less

Fall has officially arrived and now it is time to start enjoying the great outdoors.  A unique opportunity presents itself this weekend at Klyde Warren Park when Veuve Clicquot Champagne House’s vintage mail truck will make two stops in Dallas.  This Saturday September 27th between 5pm and 8pm you have the chance to enjoy Veuve Clicquot’s Yellow Label Champagne for $15 per glass, or $75 per bottle if you want to throw the Date Night $100 challenge out the window. Boxwood Tap + Grill resides in the revitalized 2901 Thomas Avenue building within the State Thomas neighborhood on the east side of Uptown.  The 80-year-old historic building which formerly housed Thomas Avenue Beverage Company (T.A.B.C.) has been restored to its original craftsmanship with exposed natural brick, soft lighting, tin ceilings and hardwood floors.  The spacious patio is a beautiful oasis with ample seating and its own bar, providing patrons a very comfortable environment to enjoy the upcoming lovely fall weather while partaking in many great food and drink items.    Continue reading

Sweet Success at the Dallas Chocolate Festival

DallasChocolate.org was started in June 2009 by Sander Wolf to promote artisan chocolate in Dallas, Texas. A big component of that is educating people about how complex and yet how accessible hand crafted chocolate can be.  The 5th annual Dallas Chocolate Festival was held September 13th at the Addison Conference Center and featured samples from approximately 50 chocolatier’s and chocolate makers.  Continue reading
