Brewery Ommegang brings its national food and beer pairing competition – HopChef – for the first time to Dallas on November 3rd, 6:30pm – 9:00pm at 3015 at Trinity Groves. HopChef competitions, which have been wildly popular in Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Miami, and Washington DC. for the last several years, is part of the Ommegang’s Great Beer Deserves Great Food program – a national initiative dedicated to the idea that fine beer deserves its rightful place at the table with fine foods.

HopChef Dallas, the kick-off event for 2014 North Texas Beer Week, will bring together Dallas’s top beer-forward chefs under one roof to pair dishes with a variety of Ommegang’s ales and compete for the title of HopChef Dallas 2014. Six beer-forward restaurants and their chefs were selected to participate: Blind Butcher (Oliver Sitrin), Common Table (Rodman Shields), Libertine (Ashley Yancey), Meddlesome Moth (David McMillan), FM Smokehouse (Rick Stewart) and Whiskey Cake (Stan Rodrigues).

Each chef will create one dish, paired with a specific Ommegang beer showcasing their imaginative beer and food pairing skills. Attendees will have a chance to vote at the event. The winner of HopChef Dallas will be announced that evening and receive a prize package from culinary leaders such as Cuisinart and Shun, a 3-liter trophy from Brewery Ommegang, a trip to visit Brewery Ommegang in 2015, during its major Summer Festival Belgium Comes to Coopertown, an editorial spotlight in Saveur Magazine and Starchefs.com as well as some serious bragging rights.

“We’re thrilled to finally bring HopChef to Dallas and to kick off North Texas Beer Week with a night of beer, food, and fierce but friendly competition,’’ said Bill Wetmore, Marketing Director for Brewery Ommegang. “The food and craft beer scenes in Dallas are hotter than ever and we can’t wait to see the culinary showdown unfold in the Big D.”

Tickets are available for $60 each and may be purchased at TicketLeap. Admission includes samples of each chef’s signature dish and accompanying beers as well as a commemorative Brewery Ommegang glass.
