Grand Opening Of Industry Alley And Benefit June 8th *Update

The Dallas bartender and chef community are joining forces to hold a fundraiser for Dallas bartending legend, Charlie Papaceno, who is currently battling an aggressive form of cancer. The event will also serve as the grand opening for Charlie’s new bar, Industry Alley and will take place on June 8th from 2pm-8pm.  The event will include guest bartenders from across the state, a pig roast, a silent auction featuring coursed dinner and cocktail pairings, and highlighted by the Battle of the Bars – a giant game of cutthroat, no holds bar, Giant Twister.

For $20 attendees will enjoy: pork tacos, pulled from a whole hog on-site by Justin Holt (Lucia), two cocktails, and watch their favorite bartenders make complete fools of themselves playing Giant Twister! Additional cocktail tickets can be purchased for $5 and the silent auction will run for the duration of the event.

Charlie Papaceno, formerly of The Windmill Lounge, was one of the first bartenders in the area to serve craft cocktails. One of Dallas’ nationally recognized (Esquire Magazine, Washington Post, Eater) bartenders, Charlie has played an important role to everyone he has encountered over the years; whether a mentor to aspiring bartenders, a counselor and friend to Dallas’ best chefs, or just a compassionate ear for anyone that has ever graced his bar. Charlie embodies the very definition of what the “service industry” is all about: hard work, compassion for others, and a drive to push beyond expectations.

Since November, Charlie has been working on opening his first solo bar venture, Industry Alley, while undergoing Chemo and Radiation treatment for an aggressive form of cancer. All of the funds raised over the course of the six-hour event will go to assist Charlie with his ongoing expenses as he goes through this difficult time.

*Update: We just heard from Charlie and the party is a go, but the grand opening has been delayed. Please be sure to mark this date and join the party!
