Create Cocktails Hemingway-Style in a Speakeasy

hem1

The end of summer is rapidly drawing near marking the end of Prohibition Chicken’s cocktail class series with a trip down South. The magic of the Prohibition Era is encapsulated by the words of Ernest Hemingway, who drank as well as he wrote. Hemingway’s lasting effect on the Cuban landscape made its way into the cocktails first introduced during the Prohibition Era and adopted across America after the abolition of the Volstead Act in 1933 and rum’s following explosion onto the cocktail scene.

With the help of special guest and native Cuban Carlos A Rodriguez-Groning (owner of Havana Social Club), will escort you back in time to experience Cuba’s Prohibition libations as Hemingway did, from the bar of La Floridita to the porch of Finca Vigia.

Learn about the nuances of rum with an introductory flight featuring Pyrat XO Reserve, Flor de Cana 7 Year Reserve, and Havana Social Club Aged Classico Puerto Rican Rum. Carlos will educate you in the art of the original Cuban mojito as well as Hemingway’s Daiquiri–inspired by his famous words “that’s good, but I prefer no sugar and double the rum.”

Join for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Tickets are $50 and include all three cocktails, three delicious hors d’oeurve courses, and the opportunity to purchase cigars hand-rolled for you on site in the authentic Cuban style.

This fun event is Sunday August 27th from 6 to 9pm. Click here for tickets.
