The Taco Stand Brings Its Tijuana-Style Tacos To Uptown Dallas

The Taco Stand, a family-run street taco joint based in La Jolla, CA, has opened its first eatery in Texas. The taqueria concept from Shōwa Hospitality lands in Dallas’s highly-walkable Uptown neighborhood on McKinney Avenue. The Taco Stand offers affordable dishes with traditional taste, including its al pastor, pescado, and carne asada tacos, burritos, volcans, and quesadillas served on handmade corn tortillas. Alongside these, the menu features its famed carne asada fries, fresh guacamole, salsa, and churros. There’s something for everyone at The Taco Stand, where vegetarians can opt for the tasty nopal cactus taco. Menu items range from $4 to $5 for tacos and $6 to $11 for burritos.

The 1,010 square-foot, 30-seat restaurant features a large open kitchen and inviting countertop that showcases the in-house tortilla production and the brand’s signature, vertical spit roasting pork rotisserie. 

Beloved for its top-of-the-line meats, approachable pricing and authentic flavors, The Taco Stand is known to generate quite the crowd at its eateries, with the original La Jolla location having nearly an hour wait since it opened in 2013.

“After a visit to Dallas a few years ago, I was captivated by the thriving Mexican food scene and the genuine enthusiasm for eating tacos,” states Julian Hakim, Co-Founder of Shōwa Hospitality. “This felt very much like our humble beginnings in San Diego and we saw an opportunity to bring The Taco Stand to Dallas, adding to the city’s already impressive taco offerings.”

The Taco Stand, a fast-casual concept with dine-in, take out and delivery options, is now open Sunday through Thursday from 11am until 10pm. and Friday to Saturday from 11am. until 2am.
