After arriving in Dallas in the 1980s, he quickly established himself as a pioneer of French cuisine, founding the beloved French Country restaurant Chez Gerard in Dallas. This restaurant garnered a loyal following, including Stanley Marcus, who regarded it as one of his favorites. Eventually, Pascal moved northward, leading to the creation of Lavendou, a delightful slice of France that captures the essence of traditional French dining.

Upon entering Lavendou, guests are enveloped in an ambiance that feels both intimate and vibrant. The restaurant buzzes with energy, even on a Tuesday evening, and it’s wise to make reservations, as the allure of Pascal’s culinary creations ensures a packed house. An added charm is the live entertainment that fills the air, enhancing the dining experience and creating a lively atmosphere.

Lavendou’s menu is a thoughtfully curated selection of French classics, combining traditional dishes with seasonal specials. On this particular visit, the softshell crab was available as an appetizer, a rare treat that did not disappoint. This dish featured exquisite presentation and an explosion of flavors that highlighted the freshness of the seafood.

However, the true star of the evening was the Rotisserie Duck, served with a delectable cassis sauce and wild rice. This dish exemplified what tender, juicy duck should be, inviting diners to savor every bite.
