Beverly’s Downtown Brings Bold, Modern Mexican Flavors to Fort Worth

A fresh and exciting culinary destination is set to arrive in Downtown Fort Worth this fall/winter: Beverly’s Downtown, an ingredient-forward, design-savvy concept that reimagines Mexican cuisine through a refined, contemporary lens. Housed in the basement of the historic Hogan Building at 901 Houston Street, Beverly’s promises to be a standout addition to the city’s flourishing dining scene.

The vision behind Beverly’s comes from a powerhouse collaboration between Jeff Payne and Jason Cross—the team behind Cousin’s BBQ and the upcoming New American restaurant, The Mont—in partnership with Jeff Morgan and Steve Maddux, owners of the landmark Hogan Building. Together, the team brings a shared passion for elevated hospitality, design-driven spaces, and culinary storytelling to a project poised to make an immediate impact.

“Beverly’s isn’t about recreating the typical Mexican restaurant,” says co-owner Jeff Payne. “It’s about honoring the roots of the cuisine while pushing it forward—creating something that feels familiar, yet completely new. Sexy, warm, and unexpected.”

Set across 7,000 square feet of carefully designed subterranean space, Beverly’s will offer both lunch and dinner service, tailoring the experience for downtown professionals, adventurous food lovers, and late-night diners alike. The culinary program will draw from Mexico’s diverse regional flavors—from the hearty, spice-laden traditions of the north to the coastal brightness of the Gulf and Caribbean. The result? Dishes that are both inventive and grounded.

Signature offerings will blur the line between the traditional and the modern. Instead of the usual bread service, guests will be greeted with hand-pressed tortillas made from heirloom flour and corn, paired with cultured butter infused with pickled onion—a small but emblematic detail of the concept’s creative ambition.

A Design-Driven Escape Beneath the City

Beverly’s finds its home in the basement of the historic Hogan Building, originally constructed in 1900 and later redesigned in Art Deco style in 1937. The building, located in the heart of Fort Worth’s walkable downtown, offers a unique architectural canvas—elegant, storied, and full of character.

Interior design firm Maven, based in Fort Worth, has transformed the underground space into a moody, immersive retreat. With its curved forms, layered textures, warm reflective surfaces, and low, glowing light, the atmosphere evokes a modern speakeasy—intimate and cosmopolitan, yet unpretentious. The space is designed to invite conversation, connection, and discovery.

Positioned steps from Sundance Square, Beverly’s will not only enhance Fort Worth’s downtown dining options but also deepen its reputation as a destination for cultural, culinary, and architectural richness. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick executive lunch or settling in for an evening of craft cocktails and creative cuisine, Beverly’s offers an experience that is both practical and transporting.

Beverly’s Downtown is set to open in Fall/Winter 2025.
