Las Almas Rotas for a Fine Mezcal

Located beside Fair Park in the Exposition Park district, Las Almas Rotas has quietly become one of Dallas’s most distinctive drinking and dining destinations. Since opening its doors in 2017, the bar has established itself not only as a place to enjoy a drink, but as a space devoted to the complexity and cultural significance of agave spirits.

The focus here is mezcal—alongside tequilas, raicillas, sotols, and other regional spirits—each bottle selected with care and often poured with a story. The selection is deep and often surprising, with lesser-known labels and rare small-batch producers represented across the menu. The atmosphere leans casual but intentional, with warm, unpretentious design and staff who know their way around the nuances of production, place, and tradition.

While the drinks are clearly the centerpiece, the kitchen holds its own. The menu draws from Mexican street food without leaning on clichés. House favorites include tacos made with pork belly, chicken tinga, or slow-roasted vegetables, all served on heirloom corn tortillas. The lengua is especially notable—tender, deeply seasoned, and simply prepared to let the texture and flavor speak for themselves.

Las Almas Rotas isn’t the kind of place that announces itself loudly. Its location, just outside the city’s more trafficked nightlife corridors, means it’s often discovered rather than stumbled upon. But those who make the trip find a place that respects its roots, resists shortcuts, and offers something lasting in return. Whether you’re there for a single pour or to settle in for a full evening, it rewards attention.
