Portillo’s is rolling back into North Texas this August, and they’re bringing the Beef Bus® with them. The Chicago-style street food legend is celebrating the third anniversary of its first DFW tour — and its growing Texas footprint — with a two-week run of crinkle fries, Italian beef, and hot dog magic on wheels.
From August 15 through 31, the Beef Bus will park at some of the area’s biggest events, giving fans (and the Beef-curious) a chance to score Chicago-style Hot Dogs loaded with all the fixings, mini versions of the legendary Italian Beef Sandwich, Char-Grilled Italian and Maxwell Street Polish Sausages, and of course, those golden crinkle-cut fries that could probably start a fan club of their own.
First stop: North Texas Fair and Rodeo in Denton from Friday, August 15 through Thursday, August 21, and again Saturday, August 23 through Monday, August 25. Expect late-night eats with event hours running from 5:30 p.m. to midnight — or until the last sandwich is claimed.
On Friday, August 22, the Beef Bus will pull up to Vendor Alley near “The Hill” at the University of Texas – Arlington, serving from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This one’s perfect for grabbing a dog between classes or just pretending you’re back in Chicago for lunch.
The final leg rolls into Fair Park for the Riverfront Jazz Festival from Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31. Music, sunshine, and the smell of grilled sausage? That’s a summer send-off worth showing up for. Event hours are Friday 6–10 p.m., Saturday 12–10 p.m., and Sunday 12–9 p.m., while supplies last.
Looks like August in DFW just got a whole lot beefier.
