Coming Home: A Fireside Supper with Chef Vijay Sadhu

This fall in Van Alstyne, Texas, “Coming Home” invites guests to experience food in its most intimate form. On September 21, October 11, November 23, and December 20, Chef Vijay Sadhu will prepare a series of suppers not in a kitchen, but on an open hearth, among the guests themselves. This is food as connection—smoky, vibrant, alive with the presence of the fire and the people around it.

Chef Vijay Sadhu: Cooking Among Us

Chef Sadhu has spent decades refining his craft, blending global flavors with local ingredients. Yet in “Coming Home”, technique gives way to storytelling. Cooking over the fire, he transforms each dish into a conversation: the sizzle of meat, the crackle of vegetables, the aroma of spices wafting directly toward diners. Guests witness the creation of their meal, learning its rhythm, its rhythm, its smell, and its heart in real time.

Chef Vijay beat Bobby Flay. Also on the Food Network he competed very well on 24 in 24.

The open fields of Sister Grove Farm in Van Alstyne provide a natural stage. Seasonal vegetables and locally raised meats form the core of the menu, while the hearth itself becomes a gathering point. Here, guests aren’t simply served—they share the space, warmth, and energy of the cooking itself, reconnecting with the primal act of preparing food over fire.

Each supper celebrates how food grounds us, reminding us of the homes we’ve left and the homes we carry within us. As the year moves from the autumn equinox to the winter solstice, dishes cooked on the hearth will bring comfort, curiosity, and connection. Flavors, aromas, and flames combine to create a shared memory—a sense of home built not just on place, but on presence.
