To celebrate Repeal Day, Bourbon & Banter—the hush-hush speakeasy beneath The Statler—invites guests to step downstairs, leave the modern world behind, and celebrate the end of Prohibition with a lineup of cocktails pulled straight from America’s most rebellious era.
On Friday, Dec. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m., the bar is pouring a special menu of $5 classics, each one handcrafted with a wink to the drinkers who kept the spirit of hospitality alive when spirits themselves were outlawed. Among the highlights:
- Mary Pickford: Flor de Caña 4-year rum shaken with pineapple, grenadine, lime and a maraschino cherry
- French 75: Hendrick’s gin, bright lemon, cane sugar and a splash of bubbles
- Hanky Panky: Tanqueray 10, Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth and a bold hit of Fernet-Branca
- Millionaire: Pusser’s dark rum, Hendrick’s sloe gin, apricot eau de vie and lemon
Repeal Day—Dec. 5, 1933—marks the moment the 18th Amendment fell and Americans could once again raise a legal glass. It’s a date built for celebration, and there’s no better place to toast it than a room designed to feel like a secret worth keeping.
Bourbon & Banter’s dim glow, hidden corners and timeless swagger create an atmosphere where every drink feels like a discovery. It’s a chance to slip into the mood of a bygone era and savor the cocktails that defined it.
