For the last six years, the Dallas 24 Hour Club has relied upon the Dallas All-Star Chef Classic, a traditional in-person dining event, to raise funds critical to their mission to provide safe, sober transitional living for homeless men and women seeking a brand new life away from drugs and alcohol.  The recent pandemic has created much hesitancy around public gatherings, with a resurgence of cases forecasted for the Fall, so this year The 24 is pivoting and will instead, produce a cookbook featuring recipes from Dallas chefs that will be titled, Cooking At Home: A Collection Of Recipes Created By Dallas’ Top Chefs From Their Home To Yours. Chef Matt Balke to Open New Neighborhood Restaurant, Encina, in Former Bolsa Space

Encina — a warm and inviting neighborhood restaurant planning to offer New American cuisine, cocktails, wine and beer with influences from Texas, California and the South, will open later this summer/early fall for dinner and weekend brunch at 614 W. Davis Street (former Bolsa space) in the beloved neighborhood of Oak Cliff in Dallas, Texas.

Chef/Owner Matt Balke (formerly Executive Chef of Bolsa) partnered with front of house restaurant veteran and life partner, Corey McCombs (formerly FOH at Stephan Pyles, FT33, Flora Street) to create an uncomplicated yet adventurous menu with a focus on seasonality and fresh ingredients in a comfortable interior and large patio design described as “homey southern charm”. Perry’s Park District Open July 11

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is set to make its move down the street into the Park District development on Thursday, July 16.

Perry’s Uptown, located at 2000 McKinney Ave., will celebrate its final dinner service on Saturday, July 11 in preparation for its relocation. Then, Perry’s Park District will open its doors to the public at 2100 Olive Street with dinner beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. Palmer’s Hot Chicken – a truly authentic, Nashville hot chicken concept will open later this summer in East Dallas’ historic Hillside Village shopping center at the northeast corner of Mockingbird Lane and Abrams Road at 6465 East Mockingbird Lane.

Open for lunch and dinner, this fast-casual concept was created by Texas native and Nashville-bred, Palmer Fortune, who explains his chicken recipes pay homage to the original Nashville hot chicken creator, Thornton Price.
