The build up was immense and the talk of the town as Texas gears up for its annual State Fair and all the crazy and mostly delicious new fair food items. The wait is over as the judges weighed in and the winners are: “Best Taste – Savory” goes to the Hoppin’ John Cake with Jackpot Sauce by Winter Family Concessions, while the Arroz con Leche (or Sweet Crispy Rice) by the Garza Family wins “Best Taste – Sweet,” and “Most Creative” goes to the Cotton Candy Taco by Justin & Rudy Martinez. The Asian Film Festival of Dallas celebrates its 17th year with returning presenting sponsor Well Go USA Entertainment, from Thursday, July 19 through Thursday, July 26, 2018.
This festival year boasts its first Kashmiri drama film and returns with a women’s showcase of Asian directed and produced films by women. Float Fest partners with local businesses such as Don’s Fish Camp, Texas State Tubes, and The Eyes of the San Marcos River for efforts to keep the river clean for its fifth annual music festival on July 21-22. For those new to North Texas we have a tradition for our celebration of July 4th that has actually made worldwide news. The Kaboom Town fireworks is considered in the top ten of Independence Day displays in the nation with over 1,500 pounds of fireworks, a celebrated airshow with warplanes and air acrobatics, food, carnival fun and so much more. People around town have their favorite spots, including a variety of restaurants such as Chamberlain’s Fish Market Grill where chef Richard plots out space on his parking lot for an optimum view replete with a special 3-course dinner with a view that always sells out. Things are heating up this summer for Twin Peaks’ annual national bikini contest.
On Tuesday, June 26, 82 Twin Peaks Girls from across the country will walk the runway at The Bomb Factory in Dallas to compete for the title of Miss Twin Peaks 2018.
An expert panel of celebrities, athletes and industry professionals will judge the contest and choose who will take home the crown. The contestants have impressive prizes at stake with over $25,000 up for grabs. Continue reading
