Wine Enthusiast named their top 100 wine restaurants and FT33 was given kudos and listed “destination” bottles such as Etienne Sauzet 2009 Champ Canet Premier Cru (Puligny-Montrachet), and Futo Estate 2009 Oakville. That list is now being curated by general manager Jeff Gregory who had previously worked the list at Rise No 1, and taught at the Cordon Bleu Dallas.

The wine menu is a terrific reason to stop in at FT33, not only for dinner but the restaurant also makes for a very cozy nightcap.   Continue reading

DSC08261by Steven Doyle

Last evening we attended the Copper River Salmon and Alaskan Brewing Company dinner held at Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen in Preston Center. Although the restaurant was filled to capacity, chef Kent Rathbun and crew found a way to squeeze in another 60 diners to sample some of this season’s best salmon. The Great Copper River Salmon Race Of 2013

copperriverby Andrew Chalk

The battle of the Copper River Salmon has been crazy in Dallas. With the announcement from Matt McCallister (FT33) and Scott Romano (Nick and Sam’s) taking to the waters of Cordova, Alaska to procure their very own specimens. John Tesar (Spoon Bar and Kitchen) quickly lashed out that he was expecting his own shipment well before the chefs dipped their poles into the water. Continue reading

Houston’s Trentino Creates Gelato With Local Flavor

gelatoby Steven Doyle

Marcelo Kreindel, owner of Trentino Gelato, thinks about chocolate in a different way than most. Trentino is the Houston based gelato concern that is shaking the foundations of our beliefs in not only gelato but chocolate as well. Kreindal has collaborated with a bean-to-bar chocolate company called Tejas Chocolate which is located in Spring, Texas to bring the more exotic chocolate using single sourced beans from Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Madagascar and Mexico.
