If you were saddened by the closure of the original Mecca on Harry Hines, now is your chance to bring on a smile. The new Mecca will swing open its doors with little fanfare at 4pm today. You will find The Mecca in its new digs at 5815 Live Oak in East Dallas.
This is not the first move for the iconic restaurant. The first location was opened in 1938 and eventually moved to its location you might be most familiar with on Harry Hines in a house where the sisters who ran the restaurant actually resided just above the dining room. Continue reading

August 12, 2012 is the last day for the long standing Dallas institution, the Mecca, located on Harry Hines when they shutter and move across town to the Lakewood area of Dallas. If you would like to own a piece of that history you can join them at the restaurant at 2:30pm Sunday when they auction off their bar-stools.
