Lunching At Chino Chinatown

By now most of you have heard of the Trinity Groves project located just over the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge (affectionately known as Large Marge). I know this because most evenings require a reservation to beat the growing population that are clamoring to dine on the boardwalk that contains seven lovely restaurants. But what most don’t know is that nearly every restaurant is open for lunch and they are spreading great deals on the same cuisine you find in the evening. Perry’s Steakhouse Offers Flashback Friday Deal: 79 Cent Chop

No doubt our carnivore friends have taken comfort in Perry’s Steakhouse and their fantastic Friday pork chop deal. This is the massive haunch of pig that is normally sold for $17.95, but nearly given away for a mere $11.95 each Friday. For those squeezing the last dime out of a buck we have tasty news for you. Tesar Gives You A Knuckle Sandwich For Lunch

I know we recently chatted up the lunch service at Spoon Bar and Kitchen, but after a visit this afternoon just before the rains drifted in and out of the area I relished with a few friends at the beautiful little restaurant in Preston Center.

There were a few items I needed to taste, and one I wolf a full portion. The last time I was in was for a media tasting and one of my table mates ordered the ramen, so I went in a different direction. As we discussed at our table today, there can be no wrong orders since everything is perfectly delicious. But I wanted a whole bowl of that ramen. Continue reading →

Tesar Rolls Out Lunch And Brunch At Spoon And It Is Breathtaking

Chef John Tesar will debut lunch and brunch service at his four-star seafood restaurant in Dallas’ Preston Center, Spoon Bar & Kitchen, on Sunday, May 12th. Kicking off with a special Mother’s Day brunch menu, Spoon will open for weekday lunch and Sunday brunch. Earlier this week Tesar opened his doors at noon for a special media tasting, and we have some good news: Spoon is just as good during the day as it is in the evening.

For brunch, expect to see dishes that highlighting fresh, sustainable seafood such as smoked salmon and caviar omelet, soft shell crab BLT, and orange dusted lobster and olive oil-poached artichokes. The lineup will also include some non-fish dishes such as eggs royal, steak and eggs, and hazelnut brioche French toast with Irish bacon and Vermont maple syrup. Continue reading →

Bolsa Closes For Lunch Service, Mercado Beefs Up Menu

On craveRADIO this past weekend we broke the story that Bolsa was closing for lunch each day, only to beef up the menu next door at Bolsa Mercado. The Mercado is cheffed by Andrew Bell, and he has added burgers (beef, veggie and turkey), more sandwiches, pastas and salads to that menu in an effort to utilize the massive kitchen at that space. Sissy’s Now Open For Lunch

Sissy’s Southern Kitchen is now open for luncheon service Monday through Friday, opening at 11am. Sissy’s is an authentic Southern restaurant by chef Lisa Garza, a former contestant on The Next Food Network Star and owner of Lisa Garza Taste Studio.

Expect menu staples such as Sissy’s signature fried chicken, Gulf shrimp and grits, and roasted redfish with sweet corn maque choux mixed in with a few newcomers. Entrée salads include pickled Gulf shrimp over spinach, lump crab cake with fine herb salad and shallot vinaigrette, and herb poached red snapper atop mixed greens with preserved lemon vinaigrette.
