Set to open in October, Henry’s Majestic will quench your thirst and satiate your appetite in a comfortable setting where great ideas will be forged, enemies will become friends, bonds will be strengthened and memories will be made. Guests will experience an elevated yet approachable menu of small and large plate offerings featuring charcuterie from Meat Parlour. The So&So Brunch Is Ready For Action This Weekend

So&So’s, which just opened recently (find our first look article here) will launch Sunday brunch service this weekend, and not a moment too soon. We have been anxiously awaiting chef Nick Amoriello’s brunch menu since he mentioned he had a special blueberry pancake ready for us. Thank you, chef.

The brunch menu offers items like the Mother Child Reunion, is chicken fried chicken, poached eggs, strongbow bacon gravy and honey butter grits. Those promised Blueberry Pancakes include 3 flapjacks, fresh blueberries, lemon cured and Fernet maple syrup.   Continue reading →

Fat Rabbit Opening In Former Uptown Sfuzzi Location

Driving through Uptown last evening we finally spotted progress at 2533 McKinney Avenue, or the former home to Sfuzzi. The new restaurant and bar  will be called Fat Rabbit. This name was no doubt generated by the same machine that thought up Velvet Taco. Stay tuned for more information.

Nyotaimori Night at SISU

There is plenty going on at SISU, including the fairly new cordoned off area for food trucks that appear daily, the lux pool and cabanas, a decent line up on the menu of some relaxed spa type items and pizzas, and of course the hot Texas nights which includes electrifying DJ’s and bottle service.

Last night we received a photo from a reader with a message that SISU now had “naked sushi” or nyotaimori as it is labeled in Japan. This is the practice of service sushi and sashimi directly off the body parts of a naked woman, which has been banned for health and moral reasons in some parts of the world, including China.  Continue reading →

So&So’s Big Surprise: The Food Is Insanely Good

The latest party venue in Uptown has a bit of a surprise. So&So’s, which opened just a few short months go is a great place in the Dallas Uptown area for a good cocktail, cool bands and kicked up people watching patio, but it is fast becoming a hot spot for good food as well.

With executive chef  Nick Amoriello at the helm the kitchen has taken a turn for the delicious, far exceeding what you might consider for a venue of this type. He is making a very good burger, and one of the better pizzas in the area. But did you expect hamachi crudo or one of the best beef tartares in Dallas? I did not see this coming, and what an amazing surprise it was to sample through the menu created by the former chef at Mot Hai Ba.   Continue reading →

The place with the funny name on McKinney Ave in Uptown Dallas has some pretty tasty food. We popped into So&So’s last night for a cold beer and found the pizza to be terrifically thin and crispy, just the way we prefer in case you are keeping tabs at home.  Be we also tasted the deconstructed pastor, which is a fancy way of saying pork belly nachos.    Continue reading →

Buda Juice and LYFE Kitchen Opening in West Village This July

This summer in Uptown’s West Village will see the grand opening of two socially conscious concepts, Buda Juice will open up shop July 3rd with LYFE Kitchen following on July 25, 2014. As the juicing phenomenon starts infiltrating the Dallas market, Buda Juice offers health-conscious customers a hand-squeezed juice experience that will leave you wanting more. LYFE, or “Love Your Food Everyday”, includes a menu in which everything is 600 calories or less and boasts a fast-casual concept with prompt 10-minute serving time.

Celebrate National Burger Day With The Baroness Of Beef, Dee Lincoln

May is National Burger Month, and today is the celebrated Burger Day, so it only seemed fitting to speak with the baroness of beef, Dee Lincoln. You may recall Lincoln from her celebrated tenure as co-founder of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, which she resigned from back in 2010 to blaze a new trail with her Dee Lincoln’s Tasting Room & Bubble Bar in the new Cowboys Stadium. Soon after Lincoln opened a second location in Rosewood Court in Upton which proved highly successful. Then there was something called Dee Lincoln Steak and Burger Bar that hit in late 2013. This was far more appealing to the masses, and it housed many, many burger options.     Continue reading →
